Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has announced the completion of its acquisition of 100 percent of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers, marking a pivotal development in the country's telecom landscape. With this acquisition effective from December 31, 2025, PTCL aims to drive digital transformation and enhance connectivity across Pakistan.
Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will now operate as fully owned subsidiaries of PTCL, joining forces with Ufone 4G and U Microfinance Bank. During a transition period, Telenor Pakistan will continue as a separate legal entity, after which it is expected to merge with Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) to form a new entity, MergeCo, pending regulatory approval.
PTCL expressed appreciation for Telenor ASA's contributions to the telecom sector in Pakistan, noting its role in improving service quality and expanding connectivity. The acquisition is set to leverage the strengths of both companies to enhance customer service, broaden reach, and accelerate innovation.
