Punjab Government Proposes Ban on Property Transfers in Illegal Lahore Housing Schemes

Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has initiated a comprehensive examination of illegal housing schemes in Lahore, advocating for a prohibition on the sale of plot files in these areas. This measure aims to curtail the rampant illegal housing developments across the city.

According to Zameen.Com, during a pivotal meeting convened to deliberate this critical issue, the Chief Minister directed the Director General of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to prepare a detailed report within the forthcoming 15 days. This report is expected to provide insights and recommendations for staunching the growth of unauthorized housing schemes.

Further addressing urban developmental challenges, Chief Minister Nawaz called on various development institutions to formulate a robust plan for repairing the numerous potholes that mar Lahore’s roadways. This initiative falls under the “LDA Development and CM Initiative,” showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and living conditions in the provincial capital.

The meeting saw participation from several high-ranking officials and political figures, including Senator Pervez Rashid, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bokhari, Vice Chairman of the LDA Mian Marghub Ahmed, MPA Sania Ashiq, the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the CM, the Secretary of Housing, and the DG of LDA.

In addition to the local urban development agenda, Chief Minister Nawaz discussed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit Conference, heralding it as a historic step towards regional development and prosperity. The conference underscores Pakistan’s role and strategic efforts in fostering regional collaboration and economic growth.
