Punjab Launches “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” Housing Scheme for 100,000 Families

Lahore, The Punjab government has introduced a new housing initiative called "Apni Chhat Apna Ghar" aimed at providing 100,000 apartments to families in six major cities across the province. This significant step in the housing sector was announced under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, As per reports published in national dailies on April 23.

According to Zameen.Com, the scheme is designed to construct environmentally friendly and affordable housing for families with incomes below PKR 60,000, with a focus on those who do not already own homes. The cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, and Sargodha will be the first to benefit from this program, with each district expected to see the construction of 3,000 houses.

In Lahore, the scheme includes plans to build 3,000 apartments on Raiwind Road, with each apartment priced at PKR 1.5 million. The Punjab government will provide a 60% subsidy, requiring families to pay only 40% of the total cost in installments over a five-year period. The Social Protection Authority will oversee the development of the scheme's rules and regulations.
