Lahore, In a significant move toward sustainable energy solutions, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has provisionally approved a plan to distribute one-kilowatt solar systems to 50,000 households across the province. This initiative is part of the broader "Roshan Punjab" program, which aims to provide affordable and sustainable energy access to socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.

According to Zameen.Com, the decision was made during a special session where critical aspects of the solar systems, including technical specifications and component requirements, were discussed. The systems are designed to support basic household appliances such as fans, lighting, and small motors, providing a dependable alternative to traditional grid electricity.

The pilot phase of the initiative is set to begin soon, with installations in various households to assess the effectiveness and suitability of the 1KV solar setups in meeting energy needs. Eligibility for the program is aimed at protected consumers whose electricity usage does not exceed 100 units.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for high-quality solar panels, inverters, batteries, and related components to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the systems. She also outlined plans for the gradual expansion of the program to include more households in future phases, aiming to increase the reach and impact of sustainable energy solutions in Punjab.
