Sindh Government Initiates Housing Scheme for Karachi Nullah Affectees

Karachi, In a significant development, the Sindh Government, led by Caretaker Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar, has initiated a housing scheme for the families affected by the Gujjar, Mahmoodabad, and Orangi Nullahs. This initiative, directed towards providing relief and rehabilitation to the affectees, was announced following a high-profile meeting at the CM House.

According to Zameen.Com, the Local Government (LG) department has been instructed to commence internal development work for the housing scheme in Taiser Town. The meeting, attended by key figures including Local Government Minister Mubin Jumani, Law Minister Omar Soomro, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Dr Fakhre Alam, and others, focused on expediting the development of this township.

Secretary Local Government Manzoor Shaikh provided an update on the project, stating that 137.74 acres at Taiser Town Scheme-45, Sector 16 of Malir Development Authority (MDA), have been allocated for this purpose. Approximately 6,500 individuals from the affected areas are set to benefit from this scheme, with each family receiving an 80-square-yard plot. Additionally, the Sindh Government will also disburse the construction cost for these plots to the affected families.

This move by the Sindh Government is a crucial step towards addressing the challenges faced by families displaced by infrastructure projects in Karachi, offering them a pathway to secure and stable housing.
