Sindh Initiates Free Solar Panel Distribution to Alleviate Energy Costs


Karachi: The Sindh government has embarked on a significant initiative to distribute free solar panels throughout the province starting this month, aiming to provide a sustainable alternative to conventional electricity sources, which have become increasingly costly.



According to Zameen.Com, the announcement was made by Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Shah during a key meeting with stakeholders from the Energy Department and various NGOs. The meeting, which focused on the logistics and strategy of the solar panel distribution project, also saw participation from notable figures such as Secretary of Energy Mossadegh Ahmed Khan, CEO of the Sindh Solar Panel Foundation Khalid Sheikh, and Director of the Sindh Solar Energy Project Mahfouz Qazi.



Minister Shah emphasized the urgent need to expedite the distribution process to cover all divisions and districts of Sindh effectively. He highlighted the project’s goals of reducing electricity expenses and broadening access to more affordable energy options, reflecting the government’s commitment to leveraging renewable energy for economic relief.



The initiative, supported by the World Bank, underscores a strategic shift towards alternative energy solutions to address the financial burden of energy costs on the residents of Sindh.
