Spotify’s Fresh Finds Hits 10-Year Milestone, Showcasing Emerging Talent Worldwide

Karachi: Spotify has reached a significant milestone in 2025, marking ten years of its Fresh Finds initiative, a program dedicated to spotlighting independent artists at the onset of their careers. Since its inception in 2015, Fresh Finds has become a vital platform, nurturing nearly 70,000 artists globally and serving as a primary discovery tool across various music genres.

In the past year alone, the program featured over 18,000 artists from 127 countries, contributing to more than 65 million artist discoveries. The Fresh Finds ecosystem comprises global and local playlists, curated by over 30 Spotify editors, using a combination of data analytics, artist submissions, and editorial discretion. Artists typically experience a significant increase in their audience reach and international streaming within a month of being included in the Fresh Finds playlists.

In Pakistan, the Fresh Finds playlist launched in late 2021 and has introduced emerging artists like AUR, Afusic, Ali Soomro, Ali Raza, Ali and Shjr, and Zeeshan Ali. These artists have quickly attracted young audiences with their unique sounds. The playlist is particularly popular among younger demographics, with nearly 80% of its listeners under 35 and 40% under 24. Listenership among Gen Z has increased by 172% year over year, reflecting a growing demand for innovative music.

Afusic stands out as a notable success from the Fresh Finds Pakistan playlist. Recently featured on the playlist cover, Afusic’s music has gained significant attention, with his tracks now appearing on prominent Spotify playlists such as Hot Hits Pakistan, Paka Hit Hai, and Desi Hits. His collaboration with Ali Soomro, "Pal Pal," has achieved international success, reaching the top spot in multiple countries.

The rise of hip-hop in Pakistan is evident, with an increase in rap and hip-hop streams by 55% and 50%, respectively, over the past three years on the Fresh Finds Pakistan playlist. Desi hip-hop has also grown by 41%. The playlist's global reach continues to expand, with significant streaming from countries like the US, Singapore, Australia, France, and Denmark.

As the music industry becomes more fragmented and competitive, the Fresh Finds program underscores the importance of curated editorial support in promoting emerging talent. To commemorate a decade of influence, Spotify has released a special 10-year anniversary playlist, available for streaming. More information is accessible via the Spotify Newsroom.
