Karachi: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has issued a pressing appeal for immediate action to address the escalating number of stray dogs and the rise in dog-bite incidents in Karachi. The growing issue is posing a significant threat to residents, workers, and business owners in the city's industrial zones.
According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Muhammad Ikram Rajput, KATI President, and Zubair Chhaya, Acting Patron-in-Chief, have highlighted the severe difficulties faced by factory employees, women workers, school-going children, and elderly citizens in the Korangi Industrial Area and its surrounding neighborhoods due to the stray dog menace. They have called for urgent and effective measures, urging municipal authorities and district administration to initiate an emergency campaign for the vaccination, sterilization, and safe relocation of stray dogs.
They further emphasized the necessity of a permanent policy to safeguard citizens, moving beyond temporary solutions. Ensuring the availability of anti-rabies vaccines in government hospitals and dispensaries was also underscored to provide immediate medical treatment to affected individuals.
KATI officials have urged the Government of Sindh and municipal authorities to treat the issue as an emergency and formulate a joint strategy in collaboration with the industrial community. The association has expressed its willingness to cooperate fully to alleviate the fear of dog attacks and promote a safer environment for all citizens.
