Karachi: A significant increase in intercity travel, ride-hailing, and delivery services has been observed across Pakistan during the Eid-ul-Fitr period. According to data from inDrive, activity levels rise sharply in the final days of Ramadan as millions of people travel between cities and send gifts to their loved ones. During last year’s Eid week, several major routes recorded multiple-fold increases compared to the preceding week.
Notable growth was observed on key routes, including a sixfold increase on the Islamabad-Rawalpindi to Murree route and a threefold increase on the Faisalabad to Lahore route. Other major routes such as Gujranwala-Lahore and Lahore-Faisalabad also saw threefold increases, while the Karachi-Hyderabad route experienced a 2.5 times surge in activity.
Company data further indicates that during peak hours, users show a strong preference for the peer-to-peer ride-hailing model, which allows passengers and drivers to negotiate fares directly.
In addition to ride-hailing, delivery services also witnessed substantial growth. On March 30, 2025, inDrive recorded its highest single-day activity in courier and grocery segments. During the Eid period, orders increased by 48.4% year-on-year, while overall deliveries rose by 17.25% on a month-on-month basis.
By the end of 2025, the share of multi-service users reached 33% in Lahore, 24% in Karachi, and 16% in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
