Urea Sales Surge by 85% in April 2026 Amid Rising Demand, DAP Volumes Decline

Karachi: Urea sales in April 2026 experienced a significant boost, increasing by 85% year-on-year, reaching an estimated 463,000 tons. This strong performance is largely attributed to heightened demand during the ongoing Kharif season, with further buying stimulated by anticipated price hikes.

According to JS Global, company-specific sales data indicates that FFC is expected to report urea sales of 239,000 tons, including 21,000 tons of granular urea, marking a 122% year-on-year rise. Meanwhile, EFERT is projected to achieve urea sales of 109,000 tons, representing a 35% increase, and FATIMA is likely to report a 141% year-on-year surge to 101,000 tons. The anticipation of price increases following a Rs150 per bag hike announced in early April has further fueled purchasing activity.

In contrast, DAP sales have faced challenges, declining to 83,000 tons in April 2026, down 13% year-on-year and 45% month-on-month. The decrease is attributed to higher global prices and geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, which have affected affordability. Margins are expected to widen to approximately US$362 per ton as international DAP prices climbed to around US$840 per ton, impacting demand.
