Shenzhen: The 2024 ICPC Challenge Championship, powered by Huawei, concluded in Shenzhen, marking the event’s second annual occurrence in China. The Championship, a collaboration between Huawei and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), attracted more than 90 coaches and contestants from 35 countries and regions. Over the course of five hours, participants tackled real-world industry problems, discussing key technology trends and facing future challenges.
According to Huawei, the event saw Japan’s Hirotaka Yoneda clinch the championship title. Runners-up included contestants from China, Armenia, Poland, and other countries, who shared the second and third prizes. Huawei’s President of the Institute of Strategic Research, Zhou Hong, emphasized at the opening ceremony the transformative potential of collective intellectual efforts in facing the challenges posed by a rapidly advancing intelligent world.
The Championship serves as a platform for demonstrating and enhancing the problem-solving skills of the next generation of programmers, with Huawei committed to fostering collaboration among the academic and industrial sectors. Through its partnership with ICPC since 2019, Huawei has played a pivotal role in expanding the reach and impact of this global programming competition.
Throughout the event, a variety of side activities took place, including Tech Talks where leaders like Huawei Fellow Chen Haibo and Chief Scientist Tian Qi shared insights. These discussions aimed at refining contestants’ abilities to innovate and model complex solutions, like the Championship’s challenge of optimal photo-story matching.
