Islamabad: In a significant development for Islamabad’s public transportation system, Belarusian Deputy Minister for Industries, Alexei Kushnarenko, visited the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters on September 26 to discuss bilateral cooperation on electric buses. The meeting, attended by CDA Member Administration Talat Mehmood Gondal and the Deputy Director General of Islamabad’s Public Transport Wing, focused on enhancing the city’s electric bus infrastructure and exploring the transfer of advanced technology.
According to Zameen.Com, during the meeting, discussions centered on bolstering collaboration, particularly in advancing Islamabad’s electric bus infrastructure. Kushnarenko assured Belarus’s full support in enhancing the city’s network, marking a vital step towards sustainable and eco-friendly urban transport solutions.
Gondal expressed a keen interest in partnering with Belarus, affirming that the initiative aligns seamlessly with CDA’s vision of creating a cleaner, more efficient, and modernized transport network for the capital. Islamabad has already made progress by introducing electric buses in various areas, which has significantly lowered its carbon footprint while modernizing its public transport infrastructure.
The meeting also explored opportunities for the transfer of electric bus technology and charging stations to Pakistan, along with plans to establish Belarusian electric vehicle manufacturing plants in the country. This development could position Pakistan as a hub for electric vehicle production, enhancing local manufacturing and technological capabilities.
Additionally, potential joint ventures were discussed between the CDA and Belarusian high-tech automobile firms, particularly focusing on the Minsk Automobile Plant. This collaboration could lead to valuable technological exchanges and spur growth in Pakistan’s automotive sector.
