CDA Calls for Renewal of Property Leases to Increase Revenue

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is urging building owners across the city to renew their property leases, targeting a significant enhancement in revenue generation. This push addresses a backlog of renewals, including high-profile properties like Punjab House and KP House, the latter recently sealed for lease violations.

According to Zameen.Com, this initiative was catalyzed by findings that many commercial properties, agro farms, and government buildings have been operating with expired leases for several years. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, in a recent meeting, reviewed the authority’s financial status and directed swift action to rectify these lapses. Notices are set to be issued to both public and private entities with overdue lease agreements.

The urgency of this directive is compounded by previous critiques from the Auditor General of Pakistan, pointing to potential revenue gains from regularizing these leases. The meeting also tackled operational issues like electricity supply in Park Enclave II and III and expedited decisions on defaulter allotments, indicating a broader effort to streamline CDA’s functions and financial health.
