Karachi: Emirates Airline celebrated its inaugural flight to Antananarivo, Madagascar, marking a significant expansion of its international network. The flight, part of a new four-weekly service linked via the Seychelles, touched down at Ivato International Airport to a ceremonial water cannon salute and was attended by key dignitaries, including Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina.
According to Emirates, the launch of this new route not only enhances connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Madagascar but also integrates Madagascar into Emirates’ extensive global network, reinforcing international travel options to and from the island. The service, utilizing a Boeing 777-300ER, represents the only three-class configuration flight operated to Madagascar, promising an elevated travel experience for passengers.
The event highlighted the strategic importance of this route in boosting tourism and economic development in Madagascar. President Rajoelina, alongside Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim, expressed optimism about the positive impacts of the new air link. Kazim emphasized the airline’s commitment to fostering tourism growth in Madagascar, aiming to attract one million tourists by 2028 through enhanced air connectivity.
The flight schedule is designed to optimize connections across Emirates’ network, including Europe, the Far East, West Asia, and the Middle East, improving accessibility and offering award-winning inflight services to passengers traveling to or from Madagascar.
