Karachi: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, called for the adoption of advanced technologies and sustainable practices to modernize maritime operations at the Conference of Logistics, Maritime Affairs and Blue Economy (COLMAB 24). The conference, organized by the Signature Event in a local hotel, aimed to foster international collaboration, reduce environmental impact, and enhance operational efficiency in the maritime sector.
According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minister Sheikh emphasized the integration of autonomous shipping and state-of-the-art navigation systems to boost maritime safety and operational efficiency. He also highlighted the introduction of stringent environmental regulations aimed at aligning with global standards to mitigate the effects of climate change. The Minister stressed the importance of international partnerships to address shared challenges and promote best practices across the maritime industry.
The conference saw significant participation from industry leaders, including Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of the Businessmen Group, and various other executives and officials. Discussions at the event covered global maritime practices, technological advancements, and sustainability initiatives.
Minister Sheikh also announced considerable investments in maritime infrastructure to spur economic growth and improve the efficiency of global supply chains. Additionally, new educational and training programs are being launched to prepare the maritime workforce for the evolving industry landscape.
The event concluded with Minister Sheikh commending the Signature Event for their exemplary organization of COLMAB 24, which he noted contributed significantly to the impactful discussions and outcomes of the conference.
