Faisalabad: Chairman of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Board of Directors, Umar Farooq Khan, emphasized the organization's commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply and accurate billing during an emergency meeting held today. The meeting addressed key consumer concerns, aiming to enhance service quality across its network.
According to Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, Chairman Umar Farooq Khan reiterated the board's dedication to consumer satisfaction, declaring that excessive or erroneous billing would not be tolerated. He highlighted the board's directive to utilize advanced technology to improve facilities within the eight districts of the FESCO region. Moreover, he ordered the management to draft proposals within two days to address issues such as new connections, installation of transformers, power outages, bill corrections, and meter replacements, with plans to review and approve these initiatives in the board's next meeting.
CEO of FESCO, Engineer Muhammad Amir, outlined the measures already in place to ensure service excellence for over 5.3 million domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural consumers in the region. He refuted claims of overbilling, attributing accurate billing to the use of Pro-Rata billing software, which adjusts monthly bills to reflect either 30 or 31 days, as per the special directives from the Ministry of Energy Power Division.
During the meeting, it was noted that in June alone, Pro-Rata billing adjustments benefited 137,000 consumers by a total of 10 million units, particularly around the Eid holidays when many consumers' billing cycles were prematurely adjusted. Amir also detailed the various channels through which consumers can lodge complaints, including the toll-free number, the FESCO Light App, and the newly enhanced services of helpline numbers 118 and 8118, which now feature tracking and direct communication with line staff.
FESCO's proactive approach also includes daily Open Courts from 11 am to 1 pm, hosted by senior officials across the region to resolve consumer issues promptly. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to improve customer service responsiveness and reliability.
The board members, including Ms. Zoe Khurshid, Engr. Pervaiz Iqbal, Mr. Amir Zia, Mr. Hassan Raza Saeed, and Ms. Lubna Usman, along with Deputy Company Secretary Saeed Raza, were present at the meeting, underscoring the collective resolve to uphold consumer rights and service quality.
