Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has removed separate compensations for Built-Up Properties (BUPs) in CDA land acquisitions, aiming to streamline the process.

According to Zameen.Com, Justice Babar Sattar’s October 30 ruling suspends the CDA’s policy of previously allowing BUP affectees to receive plot allotments, which had enabled misuse and delays through fraudulent claims. The IHC order mandates compensation solely for land, not additional BUP claims, aligning CDA practices with the CDA Ordinance, 1960, which does not allow BUP-based compensations. This decision will impact CDA’s Rehabilitation Policies from 1984 and 1994, as well as the 2007 regulations, which the CDA Board must revise within 90 days.

For pending cases, the CDA must calculate and disburse compensations swiftly, with a 90-day deadline for completion. The ruling was well-received by residents in stalled sectors, who anticipate faster land acquisition, sector development, and plot handovers without delays due to inflated claims.
