Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim Awarded Pakistan’s Highest Civilian Honor, Hilal-e-Imtiaz

Islamabad: Aamir Hafeez Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz and Chairman of Mobilink Micro Finance Bank (MMBL), has been conferred with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award, acknowledging his extensive contributions to enhancing the nation’s telecommunications and digital financial sectors.

According to Jazz Pakistan, Aamir Ibrahim’s career spans over 30 years across various sectors including automotive, telecom, and digital finance, culminating in a pivotal role in spearheading Pakistan’s digital transformation. Since taking the helm at Jazz and MMBL in 2016, he has been instrumental in maintaining Jazz as the leading digital operator in the country, with significant investments and a subscriber base exceeding 71 million.

Under his leadership, JazzCash has become the largest digital wallet in Pakistan, serving over 44 million users and promoting financial inclusion, especially among women. Initiatives like Digit 4G handsets and entrepreneurship programs have been critical in enhancing digital literacy and business skills among female entrepreneurs.

Aamir’s efforts also extend to his role on the Advisory Council of the Women in the Digital Economy Fund (WiDEF), where he advocates for closing the gender digital divide worldwide. His contributions to Mobilink Microfinance Bank include the WIN program, which supports women entrepreneurs across Pakistan.

His technological innovations include establishing Pakistan’s first 5G Innovation Lab at NUST Islamabad, focusing on integrating women into mainstream technological research and ensuring their equal participation in future advancements. Aamir’s commitment is further evidenced by his philanthropic efforts, contributing over PKR 1 billion to national crises relief, and his ongoing work with the NUST Board of Governors to advance education and innovation.
