Karachi, October 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): Beep: Cement Dispatches drop by 9% MoM in Sep-23

As per the recent data, total Cement dispatches for the month of September clocked in at 4.1mn tons vs. 4.3mn tons in the corresponding period of last year, reporting a decline of 4% YoY. The tally for 1QFY24 came in at 11.8mn tons, higher by 23% YoY on a lower base.

Dispatches have been low due to dull construction activities owing to uncertain economic situation, rapidly rising construction costs and high financing costs.

Total Local dispatches were down 7% YoY in Sep-23. Local dispatches for the North region clocked in at 2.9mn tons for the month of Sep-2023, depicting a decline of 8% YoY whereas Local dispatches for the Southern region clocked in at 651k tons during the month, a 3% YoY decrease.

Exports from the North region increased by 12% on a YoY basis. Southern region exports, which constitute a major chunk of total dispatches from the region, witnessed a jump of 22% YoY in Sep-2023.
