Karachi: Following recent severe rainfall, the city’s infrastructure deficiencies have been starkly highlighted, leading to significant disruptions and damages. Leaders of the United Business Group (UBG), including President Zubair Tufail and other senior members, have voiced strong criticism of the current state of roads and public services in Karachi.
According to United Business Group, the city’s infrastructure, particularly its roads and sewerage systems, has severely deteriorated, creating hazardous conditions for residents and impeding essential services, including emergency healthcare access. The group specifically noted the perilous conditions near government hospitals, where ambulances and patients face difficulties due to the compromised roads.
UBG’s leadership is calling on the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Mayor of Karachi to prioritize immediate repairs, especially around critical areas like hospitals, to ensure the safety and mobility of the public. They also emphasized the need for a comprehensive overhaul of the city’s sewerage system to mitigate health risks and prevent further infrastructural damage.
Furthermore, UBG leaders advocate for sustained investment in infrastructure development, stressing the importance of moving beyond temporary fixes to ensure long-term improvements and economic stability for Karachi. The group asserts that the prosperity of the city depends on a robust, well-maintained infrastructure that can withstand environmental challenges.
