Karachi: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has publicly declared its support for the nationwide traders’ strike scheduled for August 28, emphasizing the urgent need for government action on tax reductions, electricity pricing reforms, and contract revisions with Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, KATI President Johar Kandhari, along with Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, and other members of the Majlis Amaila, issued a joint statement advocating for immediate governmental response to the pressing issues facing the business community. They specifically called for a reduction in electricity prices, the abolition of additional charges such as PHL on utility bills, and a thorough review of IPP contracts to ease the financial burdens on businesses amidst the ongoing economic crisis.
President Kandhari emphasized the critical condition of the business environment, stating that facilitating businesses and industrialists is essential for stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. He expressed a commitment from the business community to contribute significantly to economic improvement if their legitimate demands are met.
