Islamabad: The KSE 100 index witnessed a slight decline, closing at 156,177.81, marking a marginal 0.00% change. Despite the minor dip, trading activity remained robust, with the total turnover reaching 1,499.30 million shares, amounting to Rs. 48.85 billion (US$173.54 million).
While the overall index experienced minimal fluctuation, individual stocks displayed more pronounced movements. Bank of Punjab (BOP) emerged as a top gainer, surging by 9.98% to Rs. 21.71, contributing significantly to the day's trading volume. On the other hand, BIPL experienced the largest decline, falling by 3.72% to close at Rs. 34.90.
Market capitalization on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stood at Rs. 18,357.57 billion (US$ 65.21 billion). WorldCall Telecom (WTL) led the volume chart, with 137.77 million shares traded. Notable trading was also observed in stocks like MDTL, BOP, PACE, and FCSC.
Regional markets presented a mixed picture. China's SSEA and India's BSESN both edged up by 0.4%, while Korea's KOSPI saw a 1.0% decrease. Other Asian markets displayed varied performance, with Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Taiwan experiencing gains, while Korea experienced a decline.
