KSE-100 Index Surges Past 47,000, DGKC Shares Soar 10%

Islamabad: The KSE-100 index achieved a record high, closing above 47,000 points with a remarkable 1.21% increase, adding 563.55 points to reach 47,063.22. This surge was mirrored by the KSE-30 index, which gained 1.06% to close at 154,277.19. DGKC led the gainers with a 10% price jump to Rs. 237.41.

The impressive market performance was fueled by significant gains in several prominent stocks. HGFA saw its share price rise by nearly 10% to Rs. 15.65, while NBP increased by 9.88% to reach Rs. 171.98. AICL also experienced substantial growth, with shares closing 8.77% higher at Rs. 75.32. The day's trading volume reached 1,078.41 million shares, generating a turnover of Rs. 59.95 billion (US$212.85 million).

While the market celebrated substantial gains, some stocks faced declines. PKGP experienced a 2.36% drop to Rs. 106.43, and KOSM dipped 2.13% to Rs. 6.90. AIRLINK and POML also recorded losses, decreasing by 1.99% and 1.90% respectively. The market capitalization reached a new high of Rs. 18,133.12 billion (US$64.38 billion).

Regional markets presented a mixed picture. China's SSEA index rose 1.2%, while Taiwan's TWII climbed 1.3%. Markets in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia remained relatively flat. The Philippines' PSI index gained 0.7%, contrasting with Korea's KOSPI, which nudged up by just 0.1%.
