Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) witnessed a downturn as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices reported declines, with the latter falling by 826.21 points, representing a 0.62% decrease. This decline was reflected in the overall market capitalization, which saw a slight reduction of 0.25%, closing at Rs 16,088.01 billion.
The KSE100 index ended the day at 132,576.98 points, while the KSE30 index concluded at 40,358.80 points. Among the top gainers, BNWM led with a 10% increase, closing at Rs 93.26, followed by KOSM, which rose by 4.89% to Rs 6.65, and YOUW, up by 4.32% to Rs 5.55.
Conversely, the biggest losers included PSEL, which fell by 5.04% to Rs 833.57, HGFA, down by 3.07% to Rs 10.41, and SCBPL, declining by 2.62% to Rs 66.79.
The total volume of shares traded was 905.74 million, with a total value of Rs 30.53 billion, equivalent to approximately $107.32 million. Meanwhile, regional markets showed mixed results with Indonesia and Korea's indices up by 0.6%, while China's SSEA decreased by 0.1%.
The market's year-to-date performance shows an increase of 10.98% in market capitalization, with the indices having previously reached a 52-week high of Rs 16,127.65 billion. However, the current market conditions reflect a cautious outlook amid fluctuating regional market trends.
