Lahore Receives PKR 1.37 Trillion for Citywide Development Projects

Lahore: In a significant financial boost, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a PKR 1,370 billion allocation for the enhancement of infrastructure and public spaces across Lahore. This funding is set to transform the urban landscape of Pakistan's second-largest city, particularly focusing on its suburban regions.

According to Zameen.Com, the allocated funds will be directed towards a comprehensive range of development activities. These include upgrading streets and alleys, enhancing drainage systems, paving roads, and improving street lighting. Moreover, the initiative extends to the restoration of parks and cemeteries, ensuring that community spaces are also rejuvenated.

Chief Minister Maryam has established an ambitious timeline for these projects, mandating their completion within 10 months. The initiative, named the Lahore Revamping Programme, is structured into three distinct packages to ensure systematic implementation. The first package encompasses development schemes across six zones, the second includes three specific schemes, and the third package is dedicated to suburban enhancements. A substantial portion of the budget, PKR 590 million, is specifically earmarked for these suburban and underserved areas, reflecting the government's commitment to equitable urban development.
