Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has earmarked PKR 1.23 billion for an extensive remodeling project of MM Alam Road, set to modernize the key commercial artery within six months from the commencement date.
According to Zameen.Com, the project plans to enhance pedestrian pathways, implement underground electrification, and improve parking facilities. These changes aim to address current issues such as pedestrian congestion and limited parking space, which have long plagued the bustling shopping district. The initiative, funded entirely by the LDA without financial assistance from the Punjab government, is poised to significantly ease access and boost the area's appeal to shoppers and tourists alike.
The development strategy includes transforming MM Alam Road into a one-way street to streamline traffic flow and increase safety for pedestrians. New pedestrian areas and parking solutions are part of the comprehensive plan to revitalize the area. Additionally, property owners who have not yet commercialized their spaces will be encouraged through special incentives to meet new setback requirements.
Work on the project will begin following the completion of necessary groundwork by utility companies to shift services underground, setting the stage for the road's transformation.
