Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has unveiled plans to revamp the Thokar Niaz Baig junction, aiming to enhance traffic management and beautify the main gateway into Lahore. This project is designed to facilitate smoother commutes for those traveling between the Motorway and Multan Road, and includes significant infrastructural upgrades.
According to Zameen.Com, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq, alongside Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and NESPAK officers, recently reviewed the proposed redesign at the site. The new plan focuses on comprehensive repairs and maintenance, including asphalt resurfacing, improved lane markings, new signage, and expanded footpaths to accommodate increasing pedestrian traffic. These improvements are expected to alleviate congestion and streamline vehicle flow in and out of the city.
During his visit, DG Farooq highlighted the critical need for upgraded signage to aid in better navigation through the area. Additionally, he assessed operational efficiencies at the LDA One Window Cell, expressing concerns over delays in file processing. A subsequent meeting with housing directors was convened to address these issues, with directives issued for enhanced field engagement and accountability measures. DG Farooq instituted a weekly performance review system and a zero-tolerance policy for underperformance, aiming to ensure timely service delivery and improved administrative functions.
