Islamabad: The strategic Naran-Kaghan route has been reopened following the rapid reconstruction of the Mahandri Bridge, which was destroyed in late July by severe flash floods.
According to Zameen.Com, the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) collaborated to rebuild the bridge, a vital link that facilitates the movement between Mansehra, Kaghan, Naran, and Babusar. The destruction of the bridge had significantly disrupted local and tourist travel, impacting the area’s connectivity and causing considerable difficulties for the communities dependent on this route.
In response to the emergency, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and FWO initiated swift reconstruction efforts, with the Pakistan Army providing necessary equipment and support. The FWO’s deployment of machinery and personnel enabled round-the-clock construction, quickly restoring the bridge to operational status.
The reopening of the bridge marks a crucial development for the region, alleviating the transportation woes of thousands and reinstating a key economic lifeline for local businesses and tourism.
