Lahore: Nestle Pakistan has responded to the devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan by donating 200,000 liters of clean drinking water, with an additional pledge of 100,000 liters for districts in Punjab. This initiative follows the National Disaster Management Authority's (NDMA) call for flood relief efforts.
Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA, expressed gratitude for Nestle's swift support, emphasizing the importance of such contributions in providing relief to flood victims. "We are optimistic that with a generous contribution from our long-term partners like Nestle Pakistan, we will be able to provide relief to the flood victims in these pressing times," Malik stated.
Nestle Pakistan's CEO, Jason Avanceña, outlined the company's focus on providing clean drinking water to the displaced communities. "Access to clean drinking water is the biggest concern for communities displaced by flooding," Avanceña noted, reaffirming Nestle's commitment to supporting NDMA's efforts during the crisis.
The water mobilization was coordinated through the NDMA and district administrations in areas like Buner, Swat, Swabi, Shangla, Bajaur, Gilgit, and Skardu. With NDMA issuing alerts for Punjab, Nestle began organizing the distribution of 100,000 liters of water for affected areas in the region.
Alongside water supplies, Nestle is striving to ensure the availability of essential food and beverage products in the impacted areas. The company's actions underscore its dedication to supporting communities during crises.
