Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has announced a significant discovery of gas and condensate at the Baloch-2 well, located within the Sembar Formation’s exploratory zone in Sindh’s Sanghar district. This breakthrough marks a key milestone in the Sinjhoro block of the Sembar Formation, an area known for its hydrocarbon potential.
According to Zameen.Com, the Baloch-2 well was successfully drilled to a depth of 3,920 meters on February 24, yielding impressive results. The well’s Drill Stem Test-3 demonstrated a flow rate of 6.8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, along with 388 barrels of condensate per day. The discovery highlights the untapped potential of the Sembar Formation, which spans the Middle and Lower Indus basins, and opens up new exploratory opportunities in the Sinjhoro block.
OGDC has emphasized its commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s energy security and contributing to the country’s economic growth. The company plans to re-enter existing shut-in wells to fully capitalize on the potential of the Sembar Formation.
