Pakistan’s Exports to the US Show Modest Growth in Early FY 2024-25

Islamabad: In the first two months of the fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan’s exports to the United States experienced a slight increase of 1.62%, totaling USD 949.86 million, as reported by the State Bank of Pakistan. This growth comes amid broader economic trends where overall exports and imports are seeing significant fluctuations.

According to Zameen.Com, while the total exports to the US in July and August 2024 showed an increase compared to the same period in the previous year, there was a noted decline in August 2024 alone, with exports dropping to USD 473.84 million from USD 494.77 million in August 2023. This represents a decrease on a year-to-year basis, along with a minor month-on-month dip from July 2024.

In contrast, Pakistan’s overall exports to other global markets during the same period rose by 7.18%, from USD 4.54 billion in the previous year to USD 4.86 billion. This indicates a broader positive trajectory for the country’s export sector outside of its trade with the US.

The report also highlighted import dynamics, with imports from the US in August 2024 slightly increasing to USD 185.61 million from USD 176.50 million in August 2023. Despite a marginal month-on-month decrease, overall imports from all countries surged by 13.82%, totaling USD 9.53 billion for the first two months of FY 2024-25 compared to USD 8.38 billion in the corresponding period last year.
