Karachi: In a bid to foster road safety awareness among the youth, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has launched an educational initiative titled "Safety Starts Young". The program aims to impart essential traffic rules and road safety knowledge to schoolchildren across the nation.
The campaign seeks to instill a sense of traffic discipline in children at an early age, with the hope that these lessons will form the basis of their behavior as responsible pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers in the future. The initiative is being lauded by teachers, parents, and school administrations for its engaging approach to education.
Targeting children aged 5 to 12, the program utilizes creative methods to teach road-safety rules. To date, the initiative has been successfully implemented in over 30 schools, with plans to expand to 42 schools in 14 cities. These cities include Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, and Attock. The next phase of the campaign will reach schools in Hyderabad and Sukkur.
Each child participating in the program is designated as a "PSO Safety Hero," a title aimed at encouraging them to adopt safe practices and become conscientious citizens.
