PTCL Group and PPAF unite for clean water initiative in Southern Punjab and Thar

Islamabad: In a landmark move to tackle Pakistan's pressing water scarcity issues, PTCL Group and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) have formalized plans to extend their acclaimed water project into its second phase. This expansion is poised to positively impact approximately 200,000 residents across Southern Punjab and the Thar region.

The previous year saw a successful collaboration between PTCL Group and the Shifa Foundation, which involved the installation of water pumps in Thar, significantly improving the lives of about 15,000 people. This initiative earned them the prestigious “Best in Digital” accolade at the Dragons of Pakistan Awards. The current phase aims to further this success by incorporating reverse osmosis plants and rainwater harvesting systems, thus providing a more sustainable and long-term solution to water scarcity challenges.

Syed Atif Raza, the Group Chief Commercial Officer of PTCL and Ufone 4G, remarked on this significant development, highlighting the critical nature of the endeavor. "With PPAF, we are taking a significant step forward in addressing one of Pakistan’s most urgent challenges. Access to clean water is a basic human need, and with this collaboration with PPAF, PTCL Group is committed to fulfilling this need of the underserved communities with sustainable water solutions."

Emphasizing the importance of the partnership, PPAF CEO Nadir Gul Barech stated, “Water is not just a resource; it is life, health, and opportunity. By joining hands with PTCL Group, we are demonstrating that when institutions unite with a purpose, they can move mountains, or, in this case, bring water to even the most arid desert communities. Together, we are not just meeting a basic need; we are reshaping futures by giving people the opportunity to think beyond essentials for a more prosperous tomorrow.”

This collaboration exemplifies PTCL Group's commitment to making a meaningful impact "Dil Se" – from the heart. By joining forces with PPAF, both institutions are setting a precedent for how purposeful alliances can drive substantial change, build resilient communities, and protect their future.
