Punjab Board of Revenue Initiates E-Stamp Paper Digitization to Combat Fraud

Lahore: In an effort to enhance security and efficiency, the Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab has initiated the digitization of its e-stamp paper system, aiming to significantly reduce instances of fraud.

According to Zameen.Com, the decision was finalized during a board meeting led by Senior Member BoR, Nabeel Javed, on August 26. This meeting, which included top officials like Member Colonies Malik Abdul Waheed and Chief Settlement Commissioner Khalid Saleem, resulted in the approval of 14 agenda items, chief among them the e-stamp paper digitization. This initiative is expected to streamline processes, decrease paperwork, and bolster the overall efficiency and security of transactions.

Additionally, the board discussed enhancing the functionality of its tax department to improve the efficiency of tax collection and the management of government lands. Upgrades to the internal audit system were also approved to ensure comprehensive auditing of commercial and agricultural properties and the recovery of dues from illegal land occupants.

In line with these improvements, Nabeel Javed emphasized the need for transparency in the auction and leasing processes of government properties. He directed board members to ensure all relevant information is accessible online and highlighted the move towards a fully digital, paperless registration system as a future goal.
