Lahore: In a significant move to modernize property transactions and curb fraudulent activities, the Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab has officially approved the digitization of the e-stamp paper system. This initiative was greenlit during a full board meeting chaired by Senior Member BoR, Nabeel Javed, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the stamp issuance process.
According to Zameen.Com, the meeting witnessed the approval of multiple agenda items including the pivotal digitization of the e-stamp paper system. This decision, reached on Friday, is part of a broader effort to minimize paperwork and reduce the risk of fraud in property transactions. High-ranking officials, including Member Colonies Malik Abdul Waheed and Chief Settlement Commissioner Khalid Saleem, were present at the meeting, indicating the importance of the initiative.
The board also decided to form a committee to review and possibly extend the lease periods for government land allotted to agricultural graduates. This committee is expected to provide recommendations on lease policies within the forthcoming two weeks.
Further enhancements discussed during the meeting include upgrades to the BoR’s tax department, aiming to increase tax collection efficiency and ensure better management of government lands. Upgrades to the internal audit system were also approved to improve the auditing of commercial and agricultural properties and to address issues with illegal occupants.
Senior Member Nabeel Javed emphasized the need for transparency in the auction and leasing processes of government lands. He directed board members to ensure all pertinent information is accessible online and to prepare for a transition to a fully digital, paperless registration system.
