Hafizabad: The Punjab government has initiated the distribution of the Chief Minister’s Kisan Cards in Attock and Hafizabad, aiming to empower farmers with access to interest-free loans and agricultural subsidies under the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Transformation Programme.
According to Zameen.Com, the Kisan Cards are a central part of a broader initiative to disburse PKR 75 billion in loans to 500,000 farmers across Punjab. In Hafizabad, the distribution kicked off at a ceremony where Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq handed the first card to Rana Khalid Mehmood, President of Awami Mahaz Hafizabad. In Attock, more than 1,200 cards have been distributed so far, with Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza underscoring the project’s role in modernizing agriculture and enhancing farmers’ economic conditions.
The Kisan Card scheme provides PKR 30,000 per acre to help farmers purchase seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, with a cap of PKR 150,000 for those owning up to five acres. In Attock, the program plans to issue a total of 27,122 cards. This initiative also facilitates subsidized access to solar tube wells and tractors, aiming to increase per-acre yields and modernize farming practices.
In both districts, dedicated centers have been established to ensure efficient card distribution, with senior officials highlighting that the process adheres strictly to merit to include all eligible farmers. Dr. Mohammad Javaid, Director of Agriculture, noted that the registration and distribution process is well-equipped and moving swiftly, enabling farmers to secure vital resources for agricultural success.
