KARACHI: Ahmed Azeem Alvi, President of the SITE Association of Industry, expressed gratitude for Pakistan's recent military success, attributing the achievement to divine support, public prayers, and the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army. Alvi emphasized the need for the nation to pivot its focus toward economic recovery.

Alvi called on the government to prioritize economic development by actively engaging the business community in policy discussions. He advocated for reducing the tax burden on businesses and protecting them from potential harassment by Federal Board of Revenue officials. Alvi proposed a streamlined tax system featuring a one-window operation to enhance transparency and reduce corruption.

Appealing directly to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Alvi pointed to the Prime Minister's business background as a reason for optimism, suggesting that Sharif understands the challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Alvi urged the government to implement business-friendly policies and protect the sector from regulatory harassment.

Alvi underscored the commitment of the business community to expand enterprises, create jobs, and bolster foreign exchange reserves. He believes that addressing these priorities is essential for sustained economic growth.

"Just as Pakistan succeeded on the battlefield, it can also achieve victory in the economic arena and emerge as a strong economic power," Alvi stated.
