Karachi: The Sindh government has officially approved the construction of a new expressway and a significant afforestation initiative aimed at boosting forest cover and enhancing the region’s climate resilience. These developments were greenlit during the recent 45th Public Private Partnership Policy (PPPP) Board meeting.
According to Zameen.Com, the newly approved Karachi Port Terminal to Jam Sadiq Bridge expressway is designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity. Additionally, the Maripur Expressway and ICI Interchange project have also been approved, which are expected to address chronic traffic issues in the area.
The government’s afforestation campaign plans to target 34,995 acres in Jamshoro and Matiari districts and will extend reforestation efforts across 88,022 hectares in various riverine areas. These environmental initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance the region’s environmental sustainability.
Moreover, the meeting also touched on the progress of the Marble City project, a 300-acre industrial zone dedicated to the marble and granite sector. This project, praised for its strategic location near major ports and motorways, is being pushed by CM Shah for faster development, aiming to attract more investors to the region.
