Karachi: The Sindh government is set to launch the Benazir Hari Card initiative to aid farmers in the province, distributing the cards through Sindh Bank.
According to Zameen.Com, a recent meeting chaired by Sindh Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar detailed plans for the issuance of the Benazir Hari Cards. The initiative, formed in collaboration between the Sindh government and Sindh Bank, aims to distribute these cards to 298,000 registered farmers who own up to 25 acres of land. Minister Mahar announced an upcoming launch ceremony for the cards and outlined the benefits aimed at supporting the agricultural sector.
The Benazir Hari Cards will provide subsidies for essential farming inputs such as grain bags, seeds, fertilizers, urea, and pesticides. The cards will also offer financial assistance during natural disasters, aiding farmers in times of need. Minister Mahar further mentioned that efforts to register an additional 1.4 million farmers for the initiative will begin soon, highlighting the government’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by the agricultural community.
Project Director Liaquat Ali Bhutto revealed that the Sindh government has earmarked PKR 8 billion to ensure the successful rollout of the Benazir Hari Card program, emphasizing the province’s dedication to empowering its farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity.
