Temporary Fault in National Grid Circuit Partially Affects Karachi’s Power Supply

Karachi, K-Electric Limited reported a temporary fault in the 500 kV NKI-Jamshoro circuit of the National Grid, leading to a partial disruption of power supply to Karachi. The fault has prompted the company to undertake short-term load management measures in select areas.

In a statement released by the KE spokesperson, the company confirmed that its teams have been working closely with NTDC authorities, with maintenance teams actively engaged in restoring the affected circuit. Due to this issue, there is an anticipated slight increase in the power demand-supply gap.

To address this shortfall and ensure the stability of the system, KE has implemented load management for durations less than one hour in specific areas that are usually exempt from load shedding. The company is keeping its customers updated about the situation via the KE Live App and its social media channels.

While emphasizing the temporary nature of this issue, the spokesperson assured customers that K-Electric is dedicated to ensuring the consistent availability of power, even considering alternate sources.
