Karachi: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has teamed up with Unilever Pakistan and SEED Ventures to launch 2nd Life Pakistan 2.0, a program designed to innovate waste management practices across the nation. The initiative aims to address various types of waste beyond plastics, such as food waste, e-waste, textiles, and paper, fostering a collaborative platform for tackling Pakistan's environmental challenges.
According to a statement by Unilever Pakistan Limited, the 2nd Life Pakistan 2.0 program builds on previous success to position Pakistan as a leader in sustainability. The initiative provides a central online hub at 2ndlife.pk for innovators, students, and entrepreneurs to access resources and connect with stakeholders, aiming to transform waste into valuable resources through mentorship and collaboration.
Applications for the 2025 program are now open, inviting participation from those developing waste management solutions. Selected teams will engage in a six-week acceleration program, receiving guidance from mentors and industry experts to refine their solutions and business models.
The program concludes with a competitive pitching event, where the top three solutions will earn cash prizes and collaboration opportunities with leading organizations. This initiative creates a platform for organizations seeking innovative waste management solutions to partner and collaborate.
UNDP's involvement offers international expertise and global network access, enhancing the initiative's reach and impact. This collaboration ensures that 2nd Life Pakistan contributes to a global narrative of sustainable development and waste management innovation.
Through mentorship, training, and cash incentives, the program empowers participants to support Pakistan's transition to a circular economy. This effort underscores Unilever's commitment to collaborative action for a sustainable future, turning waste management challenges into opportunities for growth and resilience.
