Weekly Hydrocarbon Production Sees Notable Year-Over-Year Increase

Karachi: Weekly oil and gas production in the region has seen a significant year-over-year increase, with oil production rising by 23% and gas production by 4% as of July 23, 2026. The weekly report shows oil production maintaining stability, while natural gas output has seen a slight uptick, highlighting a shift in production dynamics.

According to AKD Securities Limited, oil production remained stable week-on-week, with specific gains in the Adhi field offset by declines in other fields such as KPD and Nashpa. Natural gas production experienced a 2% week-on-week increase, driven by significant outputs from Kandhkot and Uch, although this was partially countered by a decrease in production from Qadirpur.

On a yearly comparison, the rise in oil production was largely attributed to substantial increases in fields like Nashpa, Dhok Sultan, and Makori Deep. In contrast, gas production saw moderate growth, with Makori East and Kandhkot providing much of the support. However, declines in Uch and Naimat West contributed to a drag on overall gas output. At the corporate level, PPL emerged as a leading performer with notable increases in both oil and gas production, followed closely by OGDCL with substantial year-over-year growth.
