CDWP Pushes Forward PKR 559.766 Billion in Infrastructure and Welfare Projects.

Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has advanced seven key projects, totalling PKR 559.766 billion, to bolster Pakistan's infrastructure and public welfare. In a meeting chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, three projects, amounting to PKR 8.23 billion, received immediate approval, while four major initiatives, totalling PKR 551.536 billion, were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final review.

According to Zameen.Com, the projects encompass various sectors, including housing, health, manpower development, science and technology, and transport. The Flood Response Emergency Housing Project, valued at PKR 447 billion, is primarily funded by the World Bank and aims to rebuild homes and infrastructure in flood-hit Sindh. In the health sector, the Maternal and Child Health Equipment project, allocated PKR 3.147 billion, targets flood-impacted areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Hepatitis C Elimination Program, with a budget of PKR 67.77 billion, aims to screen and treat 82.5 million people nationwide. Additionally, the Diabetes Prevention Program, valued at PKR 6.8 billion, will initially focus on federal areas.

The Balochistan Youth Internship Program, with an allocation of PKR 1.82 billion, seeks to provide skill-building and employment opportunities for youth in flood-affected regions. In the field of science and technology, the Institute of Petroleum Technology project, worth PKR 3.271 billion, aims to advance technical expertise in energy. Moreover, the CAREC Corridor Development Project, with a budget of PKR 29.966 billion, intends to enhance connectivity across several key areas with the construction of new roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
