Karachi: The Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) project recently conducted a comprehensive two-day training focused on Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) standards, aiming to bolster city infrastructure projects with sustainable practices. The event, which took place at Hotel Mehran, attracted various stakeholders involved in the city’s development initiatives.
According to Zameen.Com, Deputy Project Director Zain-ul-Abdin Mirani opened the training by emphasizing the critical need for adherence to stringent environmental and social standards in urban development projects. The training covered a range of topics crucial to modern urban management, including occupational health and safety, community well-being, prevention of gender-based violence, and labor conditions. A significant portion of the session was dedicated to environmental monitoring and the establishment of effective grievance redress mechanisms.
The CLICK project, a key initiative aimed at improving the infrastructure and livability of Karachi, concluded the session with a certificate distribution ceremony, acknowledging the participants’ commitment to upholding high environmental and social standards. This training is part of a broader effort to ensure that Karachi’s development aligns with international safeguards and contributes positively to the city’s growth and sustainability.
