Islamabad Initiates Comprehensive Audit of Private Housing Societies

Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has launched a comprehensive audit of all 66 private housing societies in the Islamabad District to ensure compliance with legal and financial standards. This action is part of a broader effort to enhance the regulatory oversight and governance of real estate developments within the region.

According to Zameen.Com, the audit, announced on August 28, was decided upon during a revenue-focused meeting that included Additional Deputy Commissioner of Revenue (ADCR) Imtiaz Janjua and other key revenue officials. The review aims to scrutinize the fees charged by these housing societies, ensuring they adhere to established regulatory requirements. The meeting also tackled the enforcement of previous directives and discussed unresolved revenue cases, with a particular emphasis on achieving revenue targets and progressing the digitization of land records to facilitate public access and convenience.

DC Memon emphasized the urgency of resolving pending revenue cases and highlighted the critical role that digital policies play in making administrative processes more efficient. He has directed the ADCR to provide daily updates on these cases to the Revenue Department and called for stringent actions against any revenue staff found delaying processes without justified reasons.

Concurrently, the Excise and Taxation Department, under Assistant Excise Officer Asif Shah, has been conducting rigorous checks on vehicle compliance within the district. This campaign aims to address violations such as unauthorized number plates, tinted windows, and the improper use of police revolving lights. The recent operation resulted in penalties against 66 vehicles for various infractions, the suspension of registration for 53 vehicles over legal violations, and the seizure of three vehicles using unauthorized police lights. Moreover, nearly 200 vehicles were fined for lapsed token taxes during this crackdown.
