KARACHI: President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, has commended Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, and the Sindh Government for their effective sanitation efforts during Eid ul Azha. The citywide cleanliness drive, which focused on the rapid removal of sacrificial animal waste, received high praise for maintaining public hygiene and environmental standards.
Bilwani highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by the Mayor and Sindh authorities, noting their well-coordinated operations. He emphasized that the efficient disposal of offals, despite the large number of sacrifices, contributed significantly to the comfort of residents during the Eid holidays.
Reflecting on past challenges, Bilwani pointed out that Karachi had previously struggled with waste disposal during Eid ul Azha, leading to health and environmental concerns. The marked improvement this year, he said, in planning and execution of the sanitation drive, was notable, with no major complaints reported from any district.
Special recognition was given to the quick response teams and personnel from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB). Their continuous efforts, even during the holiday period, were seen as a testament to their commitment to public service.
Bilwani also praised the Mayor's pre-Eid awareness initiatives and strategic deployment of resources across Karachi's districts. He acknowledged the use of technology and social media to engage the public and address grievances efficiently.
Looking ahead, Bilwani expressed optimism for continued collaboration between the city administration and provincial authorities in tackling other civic challenges. He reiterated the Karachi Chamber's support for initiatives aimed at enhancing the city's living conditions, emphasizing cleanliness as a fundamental right and a critical component for a prosperous commercial center.
