KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Greek-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening business ties between Pakistan and Greece. This agreement promises to facilitate direct and effective business relations, create channels for reciprocal business matchmaking, and host delegations from both countries.
The MoU was signed by Zia ul Arfeen, Senior Vice President of KCCI, and Rubina Markoupolou, Founder President of GPCCI, during a meeting attended by key members of both chambers. The agreement outlines a commitment to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation, marking a significant step forward in the partnership between the two business communities.
Zia ul Arfeen emphasized the MoU as a milestone for both countries, highlighting the complementary nature of their economies. Pakistan's strengths in textiles and IT align with Greece's expertise in agriculture and maritime trade. Arfeen assured continuous information exchange and encouraged joint business ventures, both domestically and in third-country markets.
Rubina Markoupolou expressed optimism about the new gateway this MoU provides for Pakistani exporters into European and Mediterranean markets through Greece. She noted opportunities for joint ventures and collaborations in sectors like renewable energy and maritime trade, which could benefit both economies.
Junaid Esmail Makda, Chairman of the Special Committee for MoU Implementation, highlighted the MoU's potential against Pakistan's economic challenges. He noted the government's efforts to resolve business-related issues and emphasized the partnership's potential to open new opportunities and strengthen economic ties.
The agreement also focuses on facilitating reciprocal trade and market research missions, aiming to identify and eliminate trade barriers. This cooperation is seen as a step toward fostering mutual growth and development, with any challenges to be addressed through direct consultation.
