Trading activity was primarily focused in the refinery, engineering, and technology sectors.
According to Taurus Securities Limited, these developments come amid a broader economic context where several key financial indicators were highlighted. Notably, the fiscal deficit has reached a 22-year low, while the government has made adjustments to petroleum product prices, including a Rs0.45 increase for petrol and a Rs1.16 rise for high-speed diesel. Additionally, the circular debt has surged by Rs364 billion, and the government's petroleum levy collection has hit a record Rs1.57 trillion.
In other financial news, inflation has risen by 9.11% weekly, and NEPRA is considering a Rs1.34 per-unit increase in the power tariff. On the export front, Pakistan is eyeing a $1.5 billion opportunity for hybrid rice exports to China, while foreign currency deposits have increased by $118 million in July 2026, contributing to the rise in forex reserves to USD 22.498 billion. The government is also engaging in negotiations for a 50% price reduction for Iranian gas and is contemplating an overhaul of the gas surcharge law to address defaults and circular debt.
