Coca-Cola Içecek to Bolster River Ravi Restoration Efforts

Karachi: Coca-Cola Içecek (CCI) Pakistan, a prominent Turkish investor, announced new funding for the Restoring River Ravi Project in a strategic move towards achieving water sustainability. This announcement was made during a stakeholder strategy session, reflecting CCI Pakistan's commitment to attain water neutrality by 2030.

The project, which focuses on scalable and community-driven water replenishment initiatives in Lahore and Faisalabad, aims to restore vital water sources while strengthening community ties. "This project is not only about infrastructure—it is about long-term impact, collaboration, and responsibility," stated Mr. Sunay Sanli, General Manager of CCI Pakistan. Mr. Sanli emphasized the importance of measurable change and collaboration with WWF and local institutions.

The session included representatives from CCI, The Coca-Cola Pakistan, and WWF, the implementing partner for the project. Discussions centered around CCI's water stewardship strategy, which includes investments in rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge wells, and floating wetland systems. Additionally, awareness campaigns such as "Fix the Leak" form a crucial part of the initiative.

CCI Pakistan has previously committed USD 120,000 to water replenishment efforts in the Ravi Basin, with current efforts yielding a capacity of 100 million liters. Expansion is underway in Faisalabad, underscoring CCI's dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

As part of Türkiye's Anadolu Group, Coca-Cola Içecek operates 33 bottling plants and three fruit processing plants across 12 countries, reaching a consumer base of 600 million people. The company collaborates closely with both public and private sector partners to ensure a water-secure and sustainable future for Pakistan.
