Lahore: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain reviewed the proposed Action Plan prepared by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision. The meeting held at SMEDA premises was attended by Secretary Industries and Production Saif Anjum and the senior management team of SMEDA. Socrat Aman Rana, CEO of SMEDA, presented a detailed overview to the Minister regarding the necessary interventions required at the government level to support SMEs in financing, marketing, technology upgrades, subcontracting, and women entrepreneurship development.
According to Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority, CEO Socrat Aman Rana emphasized the ongoing efforts of Provincial Working Groups established under the National SME Policy-2021, which are actively working to develop provincial SME Development Strategies. He noted that SMEDA, in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC), has assisted the governments of Sindh and Balochistan in formulating regional SME development strategies and is prepared to offer similar support to other provinces.
The government is committed to addressing poverty and unemployment challenges through the rapid and equitable growth of SMEs across the country. The Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) is focused on developing a feasible and effective SME development strategy as per the Prime Minister’s directions. SMEDA, under the MoIP’s guidance, is striving to create a concrete SME Development Strategy and expedite the implementation of the ongoing Action Plan under the SME Policy-2021.
